Details of loan periods and overdue fine rates for each borrower type and material type may be found in the Circulation ProcedureTo avoid overdue fines, keep track of your due date and renew materials early. If you are not sure of your due date, please check the My Account tool, email circulation@ecu.edu, or call Circulation at 252-328-4176.

  • Course Reserve overdue fines for hourly items are assessed at the rate of $1.00 per hour (or part thereof), per item; daily items are assessed at the rate of $1.00 per day (or part thereof), both up to a maximum fine of $10.00 per item before being billed as lost. (There is a 15 minutes grace period for hourly reserve items).
  • Equipment overdue fines are $5.00 per day up to a maximum of $35.00 before being billed as lost.
  • Other books, DVDs, CDs, and other materials are now fine-free, meaning there is no longer an overdue fine for them. You still must return them by the due date or renew them, or they will be billed to your account as lost for replacement.

Overdue fines are calculated when the item is returned. Overdue fees may be paid at the Circulation desk with credit/debit card or check. You may also pay online by credit/debit card. Unpaid student fines will be transferred for collection by the ECU Cashier's Office after 10 days.
