Most ECU students, faculty, and staff use their PirateID and Passphrase to login to ILLiad -- the interlibrary loan management system we use. If you receive an error message when trying to login to ILLiad, try the following ways to troubleshoot your account or contact ILL employees at 252-328-6068 or jis@ecu.edu for assistance.

  1. If you can access other ECU resources (e.g. Canvas, ECU email, PiratePort) then it isn't your PirateID or Passphrase that has an issue. If you cannot login to other ECU resources, however, try visiting the PirateID website, https://pirateid.ecu.edu/showLogin.cc, for ways to reset you passphrase.
  2. Only enter your PirateID in the PirateID field. Your PirateID is the beginning of your ECU email address before the @ sign.
  3. Try manually typing your current PirateID Passphrase into that field rather than using an automatically populated password from your browser. Sometimes an internet browser will have your old passphrase saved and will be using it instead of your current one.
  4. Try opening the ILLiad login webpage in a different internet browser (for example, try in Chrome if you used Edge or Safari if you used Firefox). Sometimes something in a webpage might not work well in one browser but will work in another browser.
  5. Try clearing your internet browser's cache and saved passwords.
  6. Try rebooting your computer.

Often times one or more of the above methods will allow access to your interlibrary loan account. If you cannot access your account, please call the Interlibrary Loan Department at 252-328-6068 or email us at jis@ecu.edu so we can help you. In the meantime, you may email your needed material citation to us at jis@ecu.edu so we can request the item for you while we are trying to resolve access to your account with you.
