ECU's Main Campus Library (Joyner Library) has gone cashless effective January 3, 2023. We continue to accept credit/debit cards (in-person and online), checks (in-person and by mail), and ECU Bounty Bucks (in-person). This change was made in response to the declining use of cash, to financial service industry trends, to requests from ECU's Financial Services personnel, and to ensure a more streamlined and secure payment process.

If you have a library bill and cannot pay by credit/debit card, check, or ECU Bounty Bucks, we recommend purchasing a VISA, Mastercard, or Discover gift card with cash from a local retailer and paying your library bill with the gift card. Many gas stations, pharmacies, and other retailers sell these cards, usually near the check-out registers or in gift card displays elsewhere in their stores. These stores might sell the gift cards in preset amounts larger than your fine, and the stores might charge a small fee for activating the card. We apologize for any inconvenience.

If you have questions or comments about making payments to the library, please email circulation@ecu.edu or call 252-328-4176. If you would like to comment on the library going cashless, please email Mark Sanders, Assistant Director of Public Services, at sandersm@ecu.edu.
