ECU theses and dissertations:

The best place to start searching for theses and dissertations is to use ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Full Text. You can search by topic, title, author, institution, advisor, and much more.

You can also search the library catalog or institutional repository for ECU dissertations and theses. Most of the new dissertations and theses will be deposited into ScholarShip, ECU's Institutional Repository. It is possible to browse the theses and dissertations written for each academic department or school.

Any dissertation or thesis written at the Brody School of Medicine, School of Allied Health, and School of Nursing can be found at the Health Sciences Library, while master degree and Ph.D. candidates from the Division of Academic Affairs deposit their theses and dissertations in Joyner Library.

You can use the Classic Catalog to look for these dissertations. In the Classic Catalog choose the facet Specific Format>>Thesis/Dissertation ECU.

Another way of search the catalog for dissertations is to search by department name. To find all the masters theses written for the Department of Psychology you should type in East Carolina University. Dept. of Psychology, as an author keyword search or choose the author alphabetical search option. Note that the abbreviation Dept. should be used, not the word department. The results may be further refined by restricting the search to a particular collection within Joyner Library such as Joyner Stacks, Music Library, or the North Carolina Collection.
