Scholarly Communication is a broad label that addresses multiple concerns:
-- expanding access to research publications through Open Access initiatives, institutional repositories, and other methods
-- protecting author's publishing rights and protecting data through better data management
-- investigating peer review, impact factors, and alternative metrics
