Borrowers may check out current periodicals, bound journals, and reference books on a case-by-case basis. For current periodicals, inquire in the North Carolina Collection on the third floor; for reference books, inquire at the service desk nearest the reference collection from which the book was found; for bound journals, inquire at the Circulation desk.

The library personnel at the other services desk will contact the Circulation desk or escort you to the Circulation desk to indicate their approval of the loan. The Circulation staff member will complete an In-Library Use Materials Borrower Agreement form and maintain it on file until the item is returned. If the item is not returned on-time, the designated Circulation staff member will contact the patron to resolve the overdue item. Overdue fines and lost fees will apply if the item is not returned.

Typical check out periods are 24-hours, but you may arrange for a longer period with the library service desk personnel and have them update the Circulation desk staff.
